The day before an audit: a quick checklist

Auditors told us the same thing: farms fail not because something went wrong, but because they were not prepared. This is the short version to run through the day before.

Run through these

  • Open Audit readiness and check your score against the standard you're being audited for — close any critical gaps first.
  • Confirm the last few days of water quality, feed and mortality are logged — no obvious holes.
  • Check every recent treatment has a recorded withholding decision, and no batch was harvested inside a window.
  • Make sure batch origin and movements are recorded for the batches on site.
  • Generate the compliance pack so your evidence is in one place — and share a read-only link with the auditor if they'll review remotely.

If you find a gap

Record the missing information contemporaneously where you legitimately can, and never back-date or invent a record — a visible, honest correction trail is worth far more to an auditor than suspiciously perfect paperwork.

Provamar supports certification readiness and evidence management. It does not certify farms, issue certificates, or replace a regulator, certifier, auditor, vet or competent authority. This guide is practical record-keeping education, not veterinary, legal or regulatory advice — always confirm requirements with your certifier and local rules.
