Set up your first batch

A batch — a cohort of fish stocked together — is the record everything else links to: feed goes to a batch, mortality comes off a batch, and your FCR, growth and margin are all worked out per batch. Set one up first and the rest of the app has something to hang on.

Add a batch in a minute

  • Open Batches (Performance) and add one — pick the species (any fish, from the list or your own name), how many, and their average weight if you know it.
  • Choose which site and tank it lives in. Not sure of the weight? Leave it — you can add a biomass sample later.
  • That's it. You can now log feed, water and mortality against this batch from the daily round.
  • You can edit the species or count later from anywhere — nothing is locked in.

Why it drives the numbers

Feed conversion (FCR), growth pace and the value at risk in the water are all computed from a batch's stocking, feed and biomass records. The more of the daily loop you log against it, the sharper those numbers get — and none of it needs re-entering; it's derived from what you already record.

Add your first batch and let the numbers build themselves.
